Narail Kantho Desk: An advocacy meeting of committee for concern citizen (CCC), a volunteer platform of Transparency International Bangladesh was held CCC Jhenidah office on Saturday. The programme was organized to ensure transparency and accountability of the union parishad.
Presided over by CCC Jhenidah district unit president Abu Taher, deputy director of the local government Saifur Rahman Khan attended as chief guest, while upazila nirbahi officer (UNO) of Jhenidah Sadar upazila Shammi Islam as special guests. 30 participants including the elected representatives of union parishads were present in the advocacy meeting.
The speakers said corruption has turned to a fatal disease in the society where the common people are affected badly. Transparency and accountability is now only the way and means to save the people from the evil clutch of the corrupt people.
As the union parishad is the grass route organization of the local government, the leaders of the platform including its chairman, members might be aware on their rights and responsibility. Each and every people’s representative should gather knowledge and skill in the matter for an accountable society that might ensure democratic practices throughout the country.
The speakers said the union parishad chairmen will make planning for organization-based sustainable development.
The representatives from the women community must be enrolled here for ward level meeting and other casual activities as they are the unavoidable part and parcel of the world. Only the women can realize their problems and detect solutions for the same, they said.
